A friend of mine was telling me once about how Woody Guthrie would get together with other folksingers once a week and write songs about stories that they read about in the newspaper -- similar to the type of poetry you're talking about. But, beyond that, I am pretty sure that any reasonable person would want their lover, doctor, and, umm, Greek professor to be more articulate than Sarah Palin. So why not their vice president as well?

This is funny:

http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2008/10/13/081013fa_fact_woodAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4315050037751888231.post-30300277979241572112008-10-05T20:02:00.000-07:002008-10-05T20:02:00.000-07:00Ugh! It's been done to George Bush as well, and I've never found it either very funny or convincingly damning. It's an easy and unimaginative form of satire for people who don't have the poetic chops to produce really rousing and clever satirical verse... like Wendy Cope or Chesterton or Trousered Ape for that matter.Meredithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02275790985990503744noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4315050037751888231.post-65818105276114135872008-10-04T20:50:00.000-07:002008-10-04T20:50:00.000-07:00Man, I didn't realize that Palin, apart from being...Man, I didn't realize that Palin, apart from being a successful and beloved mayor and governor, is also an accomplished poet:

http://www.slate.com/id/2201342Santiagohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12210745471962977363noreply@blogger.com
